Lake Ira Lalaro (also known as Iralalaro, Ira-Lalaro, Surubec, Suro Bec) is a freshwater lake located in Mehara, Tutuala Sub-District, Lautém Municipality, Timor Leste. This lake is the largest in East Timor[2] and also in the entire island of Timor. Lake Ira Lalaro is part of the Mount Paitchau Important Bird Area.[4] This area, along with the Irasiquero River, lies within a large karst basin (polje). The lake is about 10–55 square kilometers (3.9–21.2 sq mi) in area.

Ira Lalaro is located on the eastern tip of Timor Island, and is part of the Nino Konis Santana National Park (a 680 square kilometer (260 sq mi) National Park established in August 2007 by the Timor Leste government). The lake is located in a basin bounded by the Paitchau Mountains, on the Lospalos plateau.

The wonderful landscape of this lagoon has flora and fauna biodiversity. The Ira-Lalaro lagoon will bring great benefits to the community that is located near this lagoon like the Nila fish it produced, which can provide additional income and also as a source of nutrition for the communities. In the summer time, the communities of Lospalos spend time with their families there on the weekends in this lagoon to have a picnic. But always be careful because of the many crocodiles that exist inside the lagoon.
